![]() When we do visit NYC again, we will have to think twice about staying at this hotel. When my husband and I were checking out of the hotel we had a really hard time getting a spot on the only functional elevator with our luggage. That put even more pressure on the 1 elevator. Because of the fact that there was only 1 elevator working, people had to bring their breakfast up to their rooms. I don't see what the difference would have been to be able to eat in the cafeteria or outside in the courtyard area. People were crammed in the lobby trying to eat their breakfast. Guests are raving about the bedding, showers, fast wi-fi, guests services, fitness center with Peloton bikes and more. If the reason for this was because of covid, it's ridiculous. Just opened in 2018, the Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan with Four Star, 251 rooms, is right next to Penn Station, Macy’s and other Herald Square shopping. ![]() The breakfast cafeteria was closed to guests for some strange reason, and everyone had to eat either in the lobby or up in their room. There are 3 elevators and 2 of them were out of service for the whole stay. We liked this hotel because of it's convenient location to Penn Station. My husband and I have stayed at this hotel on three different trips to NYC, and our last stay at this hotel within the past week was a disappointment. A reimbursement is only the beginning as they need to know that this is unacceptable all around. I am very disappointed in Marriott's customer service and lack of decent response. I am still waiting for a response from customer care but told it may take an additional ten days? Just wondering if they have a great deal of complaints to deal with. I did get a call back from a hotel manager, the same one who sent the unprofessional email about the relocation and he also just gave ridiculous excuses and did not even appear to have all of the correct information about this debacle. We were reimbursed for both nights but I still wanted to discuss this terrible experience prior to ever using Marriott again. I advised the combination of being relocated and downgraded and then locked out of a room was totally unacceptable! I contacted Customer Care and gave extensive details. We spoke to the manager who agreed we were never informed the relocation was for one night and then went on to give a multitude of excuses. We were forced two hours before a matinee to grab a cab and relocate back to Fairfield Inn with limited time to get ready for the show. In the initial email we were never told this was for one night. The front desk at Holiday Inn Express stated our relocation was for only one night. We found we were locked out of our room including all of our belongings and medications. The next day we headed out to breakfast and came back to the hotel to get ready for a broadway show. We had reservations for weekend for two nights we made months ago. This was a decent hotel but definitely a downgrade, much smaller, not a King room as requested. Two hours before arrival, we received an email from the hotel that we were relocated to Holiday Inn Express. We recently booked for weekend of November 14 as great location when coming into the city on Amtrak.
